Connecting Biospecimen Supply and Demand

About Specimen Bio

Who we are

  • We are a professional services organization
  • Comprised of an experienced group of biospecimen experts
  • With experience in both small and large biospecimen service organizations
  • Scientific capability to understand and help meet the most complex of biospecimen needs
  • Expert knowledge of how to go about sourcing biospecimens

Who we are not

  • We are not a marketplace
  • We are not traders
  • We are not marketers

What we do

  • We partner with, and enable, both the supply side and demand side of the biospecimen supply chain.
  • We know our provider network intimately, and we do not propose providers we have not either worked with for years, or that we have not vetted ourselves.
  • We know our End Users and take the time to thoroughly understand each project. In some cases we may suggest to our clients to consider modifications that may increase the success of their project.
  • We offer advice and professional services to:
    • Help end users work with providers, whether we are involved in an active project or not. Advisory.
    • Help providers assure that their processes and procedures are compatible with, and meet the needs of, end users.
    • Audit, Advisory, and Certification.

How we do it

  • We generally follow the following process:
    • Discovery – development of a thorough understanding of the end user’s needs.
    • Definition – documentation of the end user’s needs into a project definition or specification.
    • Feasibility – selection of the most appropriate provider(s) for a given project.
    • Partnering – connection of Demand with Supply
    • Collection – management or oversight of the actual gathering of biospecimen for transfer to the end user.
    • Logistics – management or oversight of the shipping decision and process to make sure samples arrive at their destination on time and without problems.
    • Acceptance – confirmation with the end user that the samples they received are fit for purpose.
  • In some cases we may reach out to certain end users with existing inventory that we judge may be of interest based on past patterns.
